The ChesterBelloc in Spanish?
by The ChesterBelloc Mandate
Distributist thought on the internet has grown in the course of a few years. It is for this reason The ChesterBelloc Mandate was created. The purpose was to gather articles from those authors who have paved the way for a revival of the subject, from Thomas Storck to John Sharpe, Dale Ahlquist and Roy F. Moore, John C. Médaille to Donald Goodman III, each of them honouring the legacy of The Distributist League, G.K. Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc. These gentlemen, through their insight and knowledge of the economics of sanity, have continued the work of early twentieth century Catholics whose critique of both Socialism and Capitalism has returned as a result of the failures of these systems.
This site is an online library, an archive of Distributist material and reference, for anyone inquiring about Distributism or for scholars who wish to research on the topic.
As the archive grows so does the need to spread this collection in the form of foreign languages. One would naturally think of the Castilian (Spanish) language as the first in a series of future translations. Already this thing called Distributism has been touched on by blogs such as Cruz y Fierro, A Casa de Sarto (Portuguese), and Domingo Portales . They have laid some of the groundwork in translating articles and biographies normally found in the English language.
In an attempt to continue their efforts, The ChesterBelloc Mandate has created a sister site titled La Espada y El Cañón (The Sword and the Canon) in honour of our friends G.K. Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc. The mission of this new site will be to gather distributist materials published in Spanish as well as future translations of articles already in existance in Chesterton's native tongue. It is our hope readers of this archive will support our new site in one form or another, whether as natives to Spanish or as a link for their bilingual readers.
